2010 Youth
Calendar – Use
Microsoft Word to view the calendar.
We are
blessed with a large and active youth group. Our youth Deacons,
parents and the congregation as a whole work together to provide a wide
range of opportunities for our kids to come to know God, grow in their
faith, build friendships, make tough decisions in accordance with God’s Word, and have some
fun too.
Kids of
all ages participate in a variety of activities ranging from Bible
classes to devotionals and rock climbing to white water rafting.
The
annual youth retreat is an in-depth opportunity to study, serve and have
fun. This event is a highlight for many of our teens. We also host
regular youth devotionals for our middle and high school kids throughout
the year. In addition to spiritually focused activities, the kids get
together frequently for fun and fellowship with events like rock
climbing, laser tag, Ultimate Frisbee, movie and game nights, and more.
We offer
special classes – and
many fun activities – for younger kids too.
This includes an annual Fall Festival, Trunk-or-Treat, a spring gathering
with an egg hunt, and more.
Each
year, all our kids are encouraged to participate in a regional Bible
knowledge competition called ‘Bible Bowl’. The kids study as a group and in teams during the summer to prepare for this regional
competition. It is a terrific opportunity to grow Bible knowledge, have
fun and make friends with other kids from across North and South
Carolina.
We also
provide opportunities for our kids to get involved in both domestic and
international mission work. Many of our youth regularly participate in
food drives, efforts to provide funds and other resources for the
Southeastern Children’s Home, and other hands-on volunteer activities in our community.

Pumpkin Carving at the Hinson’s
Below are
photos of where some of the 9th – 12th grades gathered at the home of
Brett and Kris Hinson for some fall fun. There were about 20 kids
who showed up with pumpkin in hand ready for the carving test of all
time. After the group dined on a delectable dishes of hot dogs,
chili, cheese & crackers and wonderful desserts the kids took a bit
of time to package some gift bags for the elderly at the Balyntine
Retirement home. The kids will be delivering them on October 30th
at the monthly singing. We had a blast between pumpkin
carving, ping pong, and a little basketball. See photo page1 or photo page 2
Youth
Gathering
The
youth at Gold Hill several years ago, along with several friends, spent
one very long evening playing and having fun. The evening started
with pizza and games at the church building. One of the events was
our own version of “Fear Factor”. Several young men participated in
three events. The first event was “bobbing for bubble gum”.
These young men were adorned with shower caps, trash bags and
goggles. Once dress they would plunge their faces into a
mixture of mayonnaise, ranch dressing, and vinegar. The
kids with the most bubble gum retrieved advanced to the next round.
The second event was “egg blowing”. Imagine a egg in a
clear tube being pushed from one end to the other. Which kids got
egg on his face? The winners here advanced to the final round which
was simple, drink a shake. Did we tell you the shake was made from
milk and a McDonalds Happy Meal? It was so gross!!!!!
Once we
finished here the group of kids advanced on the Laser Tag facility in
Charlotte. We play endless games of laser tag from 11 PM to 6 AM.
We had ball and everyone had a nice nap on Saturday. See photos
of these fun events
