What to Expect
We truly welcome you as our honored guest. Expect our members to be warm and friendly, whatever your background. We are here to share with you the message of God’s word, and to do it with joy.

There is an order and simplicity in our worship to God.

We know that many people are hesitant to attend worship services at an unfamiliar church. To help alleviate any apprehensions you may have regarding this congregation, we would like for you to know what you can expect when you visit our services: Prayer. A brother will lead the congregation in prayer. The Bible exhorts us to “Pray without ceasing” (1Thessalonians 5:17).

Each Sunday, we commemorate the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross by partaking of the Lord’s Supper. This involves eating unleavened bread and drinking fruit of the vine which our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ instituted shortly before His death.

After the Lord’s Supper, we take up a free-will offering. As our guest you are not expected to contribute.

During our service, we will have a lesson from God’s Word. Accurate and relevant Bible teaching is an important element of our assemblies. We believe that we should have Scriptural authority for everything that we do as Christians, and as a church. The Bible is the inspired Word of God, and it is all that we use to determine our practices and beliefs.

One of the identifying marks of the church of Christ is acappella singing. We practice what the early church did in their praise to God. “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord” (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16).

At the close of each sermon an invitation is offered for anyone to respond to express their faith in Jesus Christ by repenting of their sins, confessing Christ before men and being buried with the Lord in baptism or request prayer. This is simply an
expedient time at the conclusion of our service for those to respond.

We would appreciate it if you would fill out a “visitor’s card” so we can have a record of your visit.

We are simply Christians who strive to be a church that belongs to Jesus Christ—the same church that you read about in the New Testament (Matthew 16:18; Romans 16:16). If you are interested in learning more about this kind of church, we invite you to come and take advantage of our efforts to draw closer to God. You are more than welcome at all of our services.

The congregation at Gold Hill Road is dedicated to expanding the cause of Christ. Our love for God and for each other strengthens us daily and inspires us to reach out to all.
